VITA Tax Prep at Wilson Library In-Person
VITA tax prep volunteers offer free, in-person services to qualifying community members.
Vita Tax Preparation services will be offered at the Wilson Branch every Tuesday from 4:30-7pm and Saturday from 1-4pm. Appointments are booked one week in advance every Tuesday at 6pm, starting on Tuesday, January 21st for appointments on Tuesday, January 28th and Saturday, February 1st on a first-come-first-served basis. Sign-up can be done by stopping by the Wilson Library or by calling us at (203)946-2228. Priority will be given to those without access to technology at home.
No call, no show appointments will not be rescheduled.
Everyone seeking assistance must bring last year’s tax return for new patrons, copies of annual income, government issued ID and Social Security Card for everyone on the tax return.
No appointments on Saturday, February 15th, 22nd and Tuesday, March 4th.
The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) is a program sponsored by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) that works with Advancing Connecticut Together (ACT) and The New Haven Free Public Library (NHFPL) to provide free tax preparation services to help low income taxpayers receive their tax refunds at no cost to them. The target population for VITA are individuals who qualify for the federal Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC). For a family of four to qualify for the federal EITC, they must earn under $60,000 annually.
