Nest Collab First Meeting In-Person

Join us for the first meeting of the Disability & Chronic Illness Memoir Book Club in the Ives Community Program Room from 5:30-7:30 pm on Thursday, June 11th to discuss the memoir The Pretty OneOn Life, Pop Culture, Disability, and Other Reasons to Fall in Love with Me by Keah Brown. In this collection of essays, Brown discusses her viral hashtag #DisabledAndCute, her life as a Black woman with cerebral palsy, and her love for- and issues with- popular culture and media representations. This text is available as an audiobook through Hoopla and limited print copies are available through the New Haven Public Library system. The Nest Collab (a disability and chronic illness project at Yale University) is also able to purchase up to 10 additional copies to distribute for free to interested community members. Please contact Kelly Diaz at thenestcollab@gmail.com if you are interested! We welcome all greater New Haven residents ages 18+ to attend this event regardless of whether or not you are able to read the book prior to the meeting. We ask that you fill out this RSVP and access form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1Y3ye5UjL7YPw_bpCBU1CG9mO1PlIQCyej_19e39G-H0/edit?pli=1 so that we can get a headcount and ensure that our event is as accessible as possible. Thank you!
