Beyond Burnout: Setting Boundaries at Work That Stick In-Person

Does This Sound Familiar?

  • You’re constantly “on call” for colleagues, clients, or your boss.
  • You take on tasks outside your role — and then feel resentful or drained.
  • You’re worried that saying “no” will make you look difficult or selfish.
  • You feel like work is running you, instead of the other way around.

If so, you’re not alone — and you don’t have to stay stuck in the burnout cycle.

In this 90-minute workshop, you’ll discover how to set boundaries that actually stick — without guilt, apology, or defensiveness. Together, we’ll explore:

  • The hidden cost of weak boundaries at work and why burnout isn’t a personal failing.
  • A quick Workplace Boundaries Quiz to reveal your style — Over-Giver, Guilt-Loop Setter, or Solid Setter.
  • Four common workplace scenarios (with bosses, colleagues, clients, and subordinates) and the exact scripts you can use to respond with clarity and confidence.
  • A simple framework for boundaries that last — grounded in your values, calm communication, and consistent reinforcement.
  • What to expect when you start setting boundaries — including how to handle pushback and your own guilt.

Presenter Bio

Barb Nangle is a boundaries coach, speaker, author and podcast host.

At 52, Barb Nangle’s life transformed through 12-step recovery, after decades of therapy merely skimmed the surface. Addressing codependence unlocked healing from intergenerational trauma, childhood wounds, and compulsive overeating. Learning to build healthy boundaries revolutionized her relationships, impacting her professional life at Yale. Formerly masking her struggles with substance use and overeating, she shed over 100 pounds and confronted her deep-seated negativity and fear. Driven by a desire for growth and social justice, Barb now empowers professional women to break patterns of self-neglect. Through boundary coaching, speaking, and her podcast, "Fragmented to Whole," she guides women to build internal safety, reclaim their power and say no to what no longer serves them, fostering a world where inner change drives societal impact.
