1000 Books Before Kindergarten kickoff
Kick off the start of 1000 Books Before Kindergarten at the Ives Main Children Room! Sign up children (birth-4 / infant-preK) for this special, early-literacy program that encourages kids to read or listen to 1000 books before reaching kindergarten, with prizes along the way after reaching certain milestones.
The kickoff event includes:
- 11 am-12 pm: Local author Charnaie Gordon presents her new picture book Etta Extraordinaire Goes to the White House (co-written by Roda Ahmed)
- 2-3 pm: Local author Talia Aikens-Nuñez presents her picture book
- 3-4 pm: Face painting, snacks, and free book giveaway (while supplies last)
In partnership with the New Haven Early Childhood Council, Possible Futures, CT Association of School Librarians, and the Connecticut Department of Education.
